Ireland: Day 1&2, Flights to Dublin, Glendalough

Our first "day" was actually two, and it felt like it!  We started out bright and early with a 6am flight from Salt Lake City to Philadelphia, with a layover midway.  During the layover we remained on the same plane so the boys asked the pilots for a turn.
In Phillie we had to collect our baggage from our domestic flight and re-check it with our international carrier, in another terminal, on the other side of the airport, of course.  Once we hauled our three large bags and six small bags, plus lunch across town, we made camp.  We found a nice corner with outlets and bathrooms nearby.
After waiting the three and half hours downstairs we were allowed to finally check in and relinquish our big bags.  With four more hours to wait the kids took some time to expel built up energy at the play area before our 9pm flight to Dublin.
A long 7 hrs later we finally hit the Emerald Isle!
Since we arrived at 8:45am, Thursday morning we had to make the most of the day and do our best to defeat jet lag by assimilating to the local time zone.
We collected our rental mini van (and I do mean mini), packed all of our belongings and bodies inside, and held our breath while Glen familiarized himself with the left handed gear shift, and I set the Garmin.
Fist stop: Glendalough , Co. Wicklow
A beautifully scenic destination.
Home to the 6th century monastic settlement ruins and breathtaking lake and forest views.
It felt good to stretch the legs after "days" in planes and airports!
The walk from the lower lake to the upper lake was well received.

Our first stop did not disappoint as we walked through lust forests covered in ferns and shamrocks.
By the time we reached our hotel in Dublin, grabbing a Subway sandwich for dinner, exhaustion had set in strong!
