One of the great bonuses of moving to our new neighborhood a couple of years ago, was the addition of a summer theatrical production each year.
This event is spear headed by a very talented 11 year old, who has been in charge from the beginning, and I do mean, IN CHARGE!
She is the director, holds auditions (though I do think it helps to be her close friend), organizes practices, a stage crew (of older siblings now unwilling to be on stage), designs backdrops and props, and organizes publicity for the day of the show.
This year our "drama queen" held the part of the lead as the "Witch". She played her part with skill and humor as no one else could!
Also in the production, "Grumpy" the dwarf/Little Pig, and 'Muddy", another little pig, not to mention big brother behind the scenes changing out sets and props.
After a freak August rain in the morning, prayers were answered and the production went off without a hitch in our neighbors backyard.
Our performers were treated to a special surprise when their favorite sitters came to see the show. Kellen and Whitney brought the girls flowers and the boys candy. So thoughtful!
And at the end of the night Dad rolls home our contribution to the set, an old, dusty, artificial tree, that we store in the garage for this one purpose.
Until next year! You never know what crazy fairytale combination you'll get.
